Congratulations To Our Second Scholarship Recipient

The Ward Green Scholarship for the Arts & Sciences was launched 2 years ago, and we have had the honor of blessing 4 deserving young scholars (2 being prior to having an administrator) since 2023.

The first official recipient, Miss Bios, a first-generation student & aspiring chef, was awarded in May 2024. We were drawn to her desire and commitment to making “a meaningful difference in (the) community by promoting health, addressing food insecurity, celebrating cultural heritage, advocating for sustainability”.

This most recent round was very difficult because there were so many excellent applicants. We narrowed it down to Jazlyn and 1 other candidate, ultimately choosing Miss Jack because of her mission to help provide “access to safe, sustainable, and comfortable living spaces” to all. Although I put my bias aside when discussing with my family, it’s hard to ignore a mission that aligns so well with our own family business and is so dear to my heart.

With each round, we are seeing less quantity and significantly more quality applicants. This is very promising since the goal of The Ward Green Scholarship for the Arts & Sciences is to help support students who want to creatively bridge the gap between art & science in practical & sustainable ways that also help serve our communities.

There is no one roadmap to doing this, so we are looking for students who have creative ideas in areas such as horticultural sciences, graphic design & computer sciences, the psychology of {interior/architectural} design, nutritional science, holistic health, etc.

These are just some of the examples of areas of study. We are open to creative ideas as demonstrated through student applications & essays. We look forward to learning more about what our future leaders can come up with!

We are ourselves a family of systems analysts who have artistically expanded our scope into interior design, web design, & edible gardening as we feel that these are areas that greatly impact other’s lives.

We created this scholarship to support underrepresented students interested in pursuing similar endeavors, whether through entrepreneurship, philanthropy, or a company with strong community values. The plan is to start small as we get our feet wet & double the scholarship award year over year until we reach $10,000 and can help multiple students per year.

If you or any high school (junior or senior) or undergraduate student you know is interested in the arts & sciences and has financial need, please click here to review the criteria for the Ward Green Scholarship for the Arts & Sciences. We are currently taking applications for Fall 2026.

*Note: This scholarship is awarded twice per year, fall & spring and an application must be completed for each award period, even if the applicant has received the scholarship before. Awards have been granted since Fall 2023.
