The summer garden is bittersweet in SE TX. If the heat doesn’t beat us, severe weather will. If it’s not either of those, it’s the bugs. In this video I am battling the heat AND the bugs in the summer garden!
Sometimes we need a little extra rain & when we get too much, we need lots of sunshine & air/wind. But it would be nice to have a little balance. Not like tornadoes – BAD. Hurricanes – BAD. Drought – BAD. All these things consecutively – I have no words.
Oh and the bugs. Not all bugs are bad, just remember that what looks like a beautiful butterfly might actually be a moth that will lay eggs that turn into larva that will eat all your food. Be diligent about identification.
Last time we were gone for a long weekend the birds ate all the tomatoes. This time was just 3 days and BOOM… heat (even though we watered) & bugs had a party!
Glad they had fun because now it’s time to bounce back & grow more!
