The best way to clean 2″ blinds is also the easiest using items you probably already have on hand! I’ve tried all kinds of methods including specialty gadgets like this one & the bathtub method, and none of them work as efficiently as my go-to method.

There are a total of 18 windows in our home. 4 of them are double picture windows so that makes 21 standard windows total. It would take me days to use some of those “tried & true” methods to clean all those blinds!

Today, we were changing out the ceiling fan in my youngest son’s room finally updating from the old school fan with light kit to this sleek little number. Since I knew dust would be everywhere from the old fan blades, I decided it would be a great time to deep clean his room – including his windows.

A couple of weeks ago when shooting this video about starting seeds indoors, I noticed that the blinds in my office were very dusty up top and literally dirty down low. So I grabbed the closest thing to me – a microfiber cloth & my DIY all-purpose cleaner – and after closing the blinds by turning them downward, I lightly sprayed them, then wiped them downward & across until clean.

Then turn them upward until fully closed the other direction and then upward & across. Typically the strings on the blinds slow me down, but with this method the cloth just slid right over them. And that’s it – perfectly clean blinds, no special gadgets needed!

I’m not sure why I never tried this before, but this is proof that sometimes the best answer to a problem is also the simplest.
