Are you thinking about starting a garden or expanding on what you already have? The most expensive thing about gardening is filling and topping off garden beds with soil. Over the last 8 years, the most valuable thing I’ve learned is the best way to top of garden beds!
DO NOT buy bagged soil to fill your garden beds. Whether they’re in ground gardens or raised garden beds, it is much more cost effective to purchase soil from a dirt yard. It’s cheap, it’s easy, it’s better quality and almost always locally sourced soil. Being locally sourced is also going to be most eco-friendly and sustainable as well.
All you need to know is the dimensions of your bed(s) and how deep you need the soil to be and that will calculate how much soil you need.
